The Weather is Getting Colder…Warm up with the Return of Hot Lunch! |
There have been many positive changes within our food service program as we continue to focus on improving healthy options for our students. Toward that effort our Cafeteria staff and High School students in Health Classes and Key Club have collaborated with Russell Sage College and Cornell Cooperative Extension. Efforts have included the harvesting of a crop of vegetables produced in our own raised bed gardens, new recipe development, and a Health Fair all aimed at expanding the promotion of healthy food choices. The Farm-to-School initiative has also been successfully implemented bringing fresh locally grown fruits and vegetables to our school lunch tables.
And now we are pleased to announce the next step in this process. Beginning Monday, December 7th, school lunch choices will be expanded to include a hot lunch menu featuring some student favorites. The deli style lunch line will still be available daily offering soup, salad and a choice of sandwiches or wraps. Assorted fruit and low fat milk are offered with all lunches.
