Dear families,
Averill Park CSD is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for our students, teachers and staff. As part of this commitment, the district tests potable water for lead and copper as mandated by New York state and the Rensselaer County Health Department.
On Wednesday, at Miller Hill-Sand Lake Elementary, some results came back above the acceptable limits for copper in the drinking water.
At this time, the Health Department advises the use of bottled water. Water fountains have been covered and bottled water dispensers can be found in the main office foyer, the gym foyer, the Grade 2 foyer, the Grade 3 foyer (between rooms 123 and 126), outside the faculty room (by Room 215) and in the Nurse’s office.
The District is working with the County Health Department to remedy the current situation.
