Position Available: School Bus Attendant Position
5.25 hours per day, 10 months per year
Salary: Salary in accordance with terms of the CSEA agreement.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Maintain a daily student behavior log
• Must be responsible, tactful, flexible, cooperative and able to work effectively as a team member
• Must be dependable and energetic
• Must effectively and actively interact with the assigned student.
• Individual must have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of students with special needs and be able to implement, with appropriate training and monitoring arranged by the district, a student’s individualized behavior management plan
• Must have current first aid and CPR training

SCHOOL BUS ATTENDANT
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES O THE CLASS: This is work of ordinary difficulty involving responsibility for assisting the driver of a school bus for handicapped children. Tasks include supervision of the school bus driver.
A School Bus Attendant also does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:
Assists in supervising the boarding and unloading of a school bus;
Guides children safely to respective seats on bus;
Assists in maintaining order in the bus;
Helps children with wearing apparel;
Assists children in maintaining physical comfort aboard the bus;
May render elementary first aid treatment.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Good general intelligence; alertness; ability to get along well with children and command their respect; working knowledge of elementary first aid methods; neat personal appearance; good powers of observations; tact; courtesy; good judgment; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: None is required; but completion of a grade school course and experience with children are desirable.
