CHILDCARE
Schools are an integral part of the community and are charged with the care and instruction of a community’s youngest members. Pursuant to Governor Cuomo’s Executive Order 202.4, all school districts in New York State have been directed by the Governor to establish plans for the care of children of essential health care workers, first responders and other critical professions and occupations.
To fulfill the Governor’s directive, the Averill Park Central School District is opening one of its own buildings to the children of our essential workers and first responders. These important childcare services will be provided through Greenbush Child Caring (GCC) at the West Sand Lake Elementary School from Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
If you identify as a person defined above, please:

Please email contactus@gbccinc.org with any questions regarding enrollment.
Ages 4 and Below
The Averill Park Central School District is working through the Questar III BOCES to provide childcare for ages four and under through two agencies. First, Brightside Up (www.brightsideup.org) is dedicated to providing resources to the community in order to improve the availability and quality of childcare, and to assist families in finding childcare. As the local childcare resource and referral agency (CCR&R) for New York’s Capital Region since 1989, Brightside Up provides these resources to Rensselaer County. At this time, they do not believe they will turn away any children. Second, Healthy Kids Program is operating most of their programs from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Their program is being held at Walter B. Howard Elementary School.
