After 20 years of being a teacher at Averill Park High School, Chris Blais is retiring this month.
“I have always loved working with kids,” he said. “Whether it has been coaching, leading bible studies, or teaching in the classroom. Being with kids has been a joy to me.”
Mr. Blais has taught a variety of courses, including Global 9, Psychology, US History and Economics. He coached volleyball and was the advisor for the Key Club throughout his career.
He will miss classroom discussions and being able to discuss current issues with students, listening to their viewpoints which affect them as voters.
Mr. Blais won’t be going far in retirement and plans to substitute teach. He will enjoy spending more time with his dog, Ruby, who is also retiring.
