Dear Averill Park CSD Community,
The Rensselaer County Health Department is issuing an advisory for students who took the SAT exam at Columbia High School in East Greenbush on Saturday, August 29.
The exposure advisory is being issued after a positive COVID-19 case involving a student from another school district was confirmed to the Health Department on Friday afternoon.
As many as 300 students from across the region participated in the exam, including four from APCSD. All Averill Park CSD students who were in attendance have been contacted.
The County Health Department has worked closely with the East Greenbush School District regarding the confirmed case and the potential exposure.
Recommended health and safety procedures were in place during the SAT exam, including mandatory face coverings, temperature checks, hand sanitizing stations, sign-in sheets and a seating chart for all attendees. Students wore masks during the test, and social distancing was followed.
Based on the review of the seating chart for the exam, students who took the exam seated on the stage of the auditorium should monitor for symptoms. Those who become symptomatic are advised to be tested immediately.
Those with questions are advised to call the County Health Department at 518-270-2655.
