AMS VIRTUAL OPEN HOUSE – THURSDAY
Algonquin will host a virtual open house for all families tonight. This video program will be available starting at 4 pm. An email link and an overview video will be sent out to all AMS families at 4 pm.
We encourage all families to view the Open House together to learn more about our outstanding teachers and the instructional program for the upcoming school year.
VIRTUAL APO MEETING – MONDAY, SEPT 21 -7pm
The Algonquin Parent Organization will have their first virtual meeting on Monday, September 21st at 7pm via Google Meet. Please email Cat Headley, the APO President at email@example.com by noon on 9/21 to receive the link to the Google Meet.
Please consider attending this first meeting and being a part of the APO!
APO PARENT VOLUNTEER FORM
Parents – Please consider helping the APO this year. Simply indicate which event you may be willing to help out with. You will be emailed before the event to see if the date and time work for you. Checking a box does not mean you are automatically expected to volunteer. Please submit this form by 9/18/2020.
All AMS students are expected to engage in their school program from 7:45am until 2:30pm regardless of if they are in the building or at home.
APPOINTMENTS DURING ONLINE LEARNING DAYS: Parents of students who need to attend routine medical/dental appointments during their day at home should call the AMS Main Office to inform of a late arrival or early release from online learning. When the appointment is finished and the student is ready to return to their online learning, the parent should call the AMS Main Office to inform us that their child is back in attendance.
HYBRID STUDENTS WHO MISS THEIR FULL IN-PERSON DAY: Students who are scheduled to attend an in-person learning day at AMS but are unable to be physically present due to non-Covid symptom illness or other reason will be marked absent from school. Students are, however, expected to keep up with their school work as best as possible, similar to how they would last year. Should there be Google Meets or other activities going on that the student could readily participate in, they are welcome to join those groups, however they will continue to be marked absent for the day. The reason behind this is that there are distinct learning plans for each day for each cohort and it is not possible for a student to seamlessly switch from in-person to online learning.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
AMS 2020-21 T-SHIRT DESIGN COMPETITION
The APO will be offering an AMS Warriors Apparel Sale starting in October. They are looking for a t-shirt design that will highlight this unique hybrid/virtual learning year here at AMS. The winning design will of course be featured on the t-shirt in October and possible other school items later the year. The student who creates the design will get a free t-shirt and will be featured by the school. All designs are due to Mr. Messia by Friday, September 25th. Please encourage your child to participate.
AFTERNOON – STUDENT PICK UP AREA
This year we have an increase in the number of parents picking up their students at the end of the school day.
Parents arriving in the afternoon for pick up should park their vehicle in the side PFA lot.
Parking your vehicle instead of forming a circular line around the parking lot during this time helps to prevent traffic from backing up onto Route 66.
Here is a visual illustration of the PFA Parking Lot:
Again, please pull into the PFA Parking Lot and park your vehicle as your wait for your child to be dismissed at the end of the day.
Thank you for your help with this important safety issue.
REMINDER – EACH STUDENT MUST CHECK IN TO MORNING MEETING EACH DAY
As a reminder, all students must check in to their Morning Meeting Google Meet each school day morning starting at 7:45am.
Regardless of if they are attending in person or virtually, students will be marked tardy should they arrive later than 7:56am.
Students who do not participate in Morning Meeting are marked as absent for the school day.
Please help your child establish a good school morning routine so they can start their day on the right foot.
