After school programs have always been a place where students have found academic support and inspiration, and a global pandemic hasn’t stopped Algonquin Middle School from delivering this service to those in need.
Each week teacher assistants Mrs. Goodermote and Mrs. Owens stay after school to support students with an informal after school academic support program on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The duo cover all subjects and all three grade levels after school and also provide students with a snack and a bottle of water.
If AMS is in a remote learning setting, or if students are learning 100% virtually, they can participate via a Google Meet. Students who attend school through the hybrid program participate on their day of in-person attendance.
This support has helped a dozen students at AMS find success during the second marking period.
Thank you to Mrs. Goodermote, Mrs. Owens, and Assistant Principal Dr. Rhode, who has helped coordinate the logistics of this program.
