Mrs. Lajeunesseś 5th grade class at WSL has been wanting a class pet. After some research they found that they can have a virtual one!
They have adopted Esperanza (Espy) from an animal sanctuary in California, called Charlieś Acres. The class knew it was meant to be since they read the book Esperanza Rising in the fall!
They virtually meet with Espy and her caretaker and will continue to meet weekly in the month of June. Students have learned about Espy’s life and how she came to be at the sanctuary. They also have met her best friends named Zipper and Ombre. Each week students learn more about how to care for animals and what makes Esperanza so special.
