GRADE 8 FIELD DAY ACTIVITIES

The AMS Grade 8 teachers have been hard at work developing a special field day for students.

The field day will take place in the afternoon on the last full day of school:
– Cohort 1 (Last Names A-K): Friday, June 18, 2021
– Cohort 2 (Last Names L-Z): Monday, June 21, 2021

In the afternoon on their field day, students will participate in organizing activities such as:
– Kickball
– Tiger-ball
– Socially distanced spectating/outdoor socializing
– Class of 2025 t-shirt tie-dying

Students have been asked to select the activities that fit their interests and can spend time with their friends enjoying the June day together.

We anticipate our school yearbooks will be delivered by our Field Day and that will also allow for students to have friends and teachers sign their yearbooks during this time, as well.

Thanks to the support of the AMS Yearbook Club, students will enjoy an ice cream social during part of the field day.

Students will order their ice cream of choice in a Google Form prior to the event (nut and allergy-free items will be available)

Ice cream will be consumed seated, socially distanced, at the picnic tables

All mandated safety protocols will be in place for the field day activities.

Students will wear masks when not socially distanced, like at all school activities.

Finally, all grade 8 student Chromebooks will be collected on this day. 8th graders should charge their Chromebooks to 100% and bring the Chromebook chargers to school. Students will be issued new Chromebooks in high school next year.

This fun day will be a great way to celebrate the accomplishments of our grade 8 students and help them create some more positive memories as they prepare to head to the high school level.

APO NEWS

Please remember that there are many easy ways to help our APO raise money! First, consider using smile.amazon.com when purchasing through Amazon – Algonquin Parent Organization can be set as your selected charity (your login information will be the same as amazon.com). It is simple to set-up and you can save it right to your account!

Box Tops have changed! No more clipping and sending in with students (which inevitably get lost in their backpack). Please consider downloading the Box Tops for Education app to your phone, create a simple account, and then just scan receipts (or have a student in your house do it)! You will again be asked to select your school to support – Algonquin is out there and ready to roll. It’s very easy, and every little bit counts! (See the attached document for additional help. Please reach out to Cat Headley if you have any questions. Headley70@gmail.com)

Last but not least, we are always happy to have families donate directly to APO via PayPal using ams.parentorg@yahoo.com. Thanks!

**For the month of June 2021, Algonquin Parent Organization will receive a $1 donation from each purchase of the $2.50 reusable Community Bag at the Hannaford store located at Route 43 & 150, W. Sand Lake NY.**
