As you are aware, the District has been taking additional precautions related to the COVID-19 pandemic by expanding remote learning capabilities and offering at-home test kits this week.
Please know that keeping students learning in-person is a high priority. There may come a time, however, where we need to quickly pivot to remote instruction due to staffing shortages.
While this is not imminent, we want to proactively do everything we can to make sure that our students do not lose a day of instruction during any transition from in-person to remote learning. To that end, please remind your secondary students to bring home their devices and chargers each day.
Starting tomorrow (Tuesday, January 4), students in grades 2-5 will be given a computer and charger to bring home and to bring back to school each day, as well. Students in kindergarten and first grade will be provided with a folder containing pencil and paper-based activities for the first day of the transition period. On the first day of the transition, the District will work to deliver devices to students in these grades only.
Again, at this time this is just a precaution. We want to proactively prepare ourselves to pivot if it becomes necessary for any reason.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
