Congratulations to Daryl Bart and Scott Bendett, who were honored with the Capital Area School Development Association (CASDA) Friends of Education Award last night!
Both Ms. Bart and Mr. Bendett have been strong advocates of the Averill Park Central School District for more than a decade, with both leading the Averill Park Education Foundation (APEF).
CASDA presents this award to recognize the selfless contributions of individuals who dedicate themselves to serving students and enriching their school communities. As members of the APCSD community, Bart and Bendett have spearheaded fundraising initiatives, including the annual APEF Gala, a Taste and Toast event, and an annual golf tournament. This year, money raised from the golf tournament supplied backpacks and food to the school food pantry. Funds raised from the other initiatives are distributed in the form of grants to academic subject areas, as well as technology, cultural enrichment, and scholastic achievement.
Some projects that have been funded by APEF include MakeyMakey Invention Kits, an E-sports Program at the Middle School, author visits, Story Pirates theatrical group performances at the Elementary Schools, iPad Minis for the Special Education Department, VEX Robotic equipment, laptops, a refurbished Wurlitzer Grand Piano, Human Brain Lab equipment, Chauvet Ovation LED lights for the High School Theater Department, and much more.
CASDA is proud to recognize Daryl Bart and Scott Bendett as true Friends of Education.
