AMS SERVES – REGIONAL FOOD BANK FARM FIELD TRIPS

Algonquin is proud to announce that we will once again be conducting service learning field trips to the Northeast Regional Food Bank Farm this spring. At the farm, students will help plant crops that will later be harvested in support of families in need throughout the greater Capital Region.

For the past many years, with the exception of the past two, AMS has been the largest volunteer group supporting the work of the Regional Food Bank Farm and they have missed our students’ volunteer support. We are glad to help students have a fun day at the farm, learning more about the food bank, agriculture and supporting those in need. Listed below are the dates for the AMS Serves Field Trips. Additional information will be provided on the field trip permission slip.

Grade 8 :
Team 5 – Monday, May 23
Team 6 – Tuesday, May 24
Grade 7:
Team 3 – Wednesday, May 25
Team 4 – Thursday, May 26
Grade 6:
Team 1 – Tuesday, May 31
Team 2 – Wednesday, June 1

Thank you for your support of this fun service learning experience.

STAFF APPRECIATION BREAKFAST – THANK YOU!

On behalf of the entire staff here at AMS, we would like to express our deep appreciation to the Algonquin Parent Organization and the many families that provided a wonderful breakfast and raffle for our staff members this morning. It would be more accurate to call it a feast, not a breakfast! The support expressed through this event is a wonderful reminder of the supportive community we are members of. Thank you for all that you do for our school and staff.

  • Communicate effectively with teens (it can be done!)
  • Understand a teen’s goals—which is key to avoiding power struggles
  • Give your teen the tools needed to behave in a responsible way
  • Be a positive influence on your adolescent
  • Reduce the risks of the teen years, including alcohol, drugs, sexuality and violence.

Thank you
