After 25 years with the Averill Park Central School District, Teaching Assistant Joanne Goodermote is retiring. Ms. Goodermote began working as a monitor at the high school – in the parking lot – before working her way up to an Aide and then Teaching Assistant.
“To be honest, I started working at school because I wanted to be on the same schedule as my school aged children at the time,” she said. “I found that I loved helping students in any way possible. Some of my favorite memories are smiles of the students and the thank yous.
“We have some of the kindest students ever. I will miss working with the students and all the great people that make up our school community.”
In retirement, Ms. Goodermote plans to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
