Our next Warrior Way Assemblies will take place on Thursday (Teams 1, 3 and 5) and Friday (Teams 2, 4 and 6). The focus of this round of assemblies will be on Goal Setting and the Power of Persistence. We hope that the message of the assemblies carries forward into student thinking and action as we kick off 2023! We plan to share family discussion questions after the assemblies.

Happy New Year AMS Families!!! We wish you a year of fun filled memories!

Believe it or not, we have reached the time of year where our 8th graders will begin getting information about our high school for next year. Two events are coming up in January:

January 10th – a team from APHS is coming to talk to the 8th grade students during the day about the high school and the transition process from 8th to 9th grade.

January 24th – APHS elective teachers will be at AMS during lunches for the annual elective fair. Interested 8th grade students will be able to meet the teachers and hear about their elective classes during their lunch time.

This course is open to anyone who is 11 years or older. It is a hands-on class with video training, practicing on manikins, and group work.

The cost of the class is $30 for AMS students with APO defraying the cost for families (the cost is $65 for non-AMS students), which includes the completion certificate.

The classes will be held in the AMS Library on Saturday, February 4th, the first group is 8:00am-12:00pm and the second group is 12:30pm-4:30pm. Class size is limited, so register early! Registration must be received by 1/29/23.

Registration forms are in the AMS Main Office.

If you have questions, you can contact the class instructor, Brenda Vermilya, at brendaleigh7@gmail.com.

Coding Club will be after school from 2nd dismissal until 3:20 on Tuesday, January 10th.  If your child is interested they can let Mrs. Ekstrom know or email her at ekstromr@apcsd.org to sign up. Please note that students need to sign up each time.  Thank you.

From the Poestenkill Public Library:

Need a good excuse to stay in bed reading all day, or a fun distraction to help you while away the cold, gray, winter days? We have just the thing! Get yeti — the Winter Reading Program is back at Poestenkill Library.

This year’s program will run from 1/9/23 – 2/18/23, and is open to ALL ages. We have plenty of fun planned and prize opportunities available for everyone; from the youngest pre-readers, children, and teens, to our most experienced adult readers. We’ll also have an interactive Winter Reading display in the library again. To coordinate with this year’s yeti theme, we’re going to build a forest home for our reading yeti. Participants can add a tree sticker to the display for each book read!

So, are you yeti to have some fun? Register online now at https://forms.gle/WsAVTNoLotXPbqds8, or fill out a paper registration at the library, after January 1.

From the North Greenbush Library:

Tween Book Club:  Our next Tween Book Club meeting will be held Saturday, January 21 at 12:00 pm. They will be discussing the book Winterborne Home for Vengeance and Valor by Ally Carter. The meetings include book discussion, a related craft and snacks. All tweens (ages 10-12) are welcome!
