  7. Algonquin News – March...

Come see the spring musical: Frozen, Jr. at Algonquin Middle School! There will be two performances: Friday, March 10 at 7:00 pm and Saturday, March 11 at 2:00 pm.

Tickets will be on sale next week during Morning Meeting (7:45-8:10) in the AMS main lobby! Students can buy tickets on Thursday, 3/9 or Friday, 3/10 during lunch outside of the cafeteria. Tickets can also be purchased at the door for performances, up to 45 minutes before the show.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children/seniors.

The APO Winter Carnival Beach Party Event will take place today after school from 2:40-4:30pm.

Tickets are $5.00 and due to the remote learning day yesterday are being sold today during lunches only.

Students must have a ticket to attend.

There will be beach ball volleyball games, LIMBO, relay races, carnival games, snow cones, cotton candy and crafts. Leis, sunglasses, snacks and water will also be for sale.

For each ticket paid, the students will receive 1 FREE snow cone cup.

Please have a ride here at AMS at 4:30pm for your child if they are attending.

Tomorrow March 2, the Physical Education department will hold their annual “Kids Heart Challenge” through the American Heart Association.  The event will take place after school from 2:30-5 pm.  Students can participate in Jump Rope and Basketball activities, as well as the 4th Annual “Algonquin Ninja Warrior” competition.  If you plan to attend the event, please hand in a signed Kids Heart Challenge permission slip form that was handed out in class.

For those who won’t be able to attend, but would still like to help, we ask that you register your son or daughter at www.heart.org/khc .  By getting 50% of our students just registered we will be able to earn extra money towards our Physical Education department program along with extra recess equipment.  Registering is free and does not obligate you to come to the event or raise any money.  If you or your son or daughter has any questions please email Emily Crowley at crowleye@apcsd.org.

Thank you,

Algonquin Physical Education Department

Our latest Warrior Way Assemblies will take place on Wednesday (Teams 1, 3 and 5) and Thursday (Teams 2, 4 and 6).  This assembly focuses on respecting differences and overcoming challenges.  We will also have a preview of the spring musical.  Family discussion questions will be shared on Thursday via email.  Thank you.

Our last APO meeting that will cover our remaining events of 2023 will be on March 13th from 7-8pm in the Library. We hope to see you there!

We will chat about our Teacher Appreciation Breakfast, Spring Book Fair, another Movie Night, 8th Grade Farewell Dance, and 8th Grade Graduation.

See this flyer for more information.

Save the date: Coding Club will be held on Wednesday, March 1st.   If your child would like to attend, they can email Mrs. Ekstrom at ekstromr@apcsd.org to sign up or sign up in the library.  All are welcome to attend!

CHROMEBOOK REMINDER:  Please help your child be ready for school by reminding them to charge their Chromebook each night and to be sure to pack it in their backpack for the next school day.  If the battery life falls below 20%, the laptop can go into a deep sleep and die.  It then has to be sent to our Technology Department to be revived. If students are charging their Chromebooks every day, this should ensure that their school day and learning is not interrupted.
