Our annual AMS Learning Launch Open House will take place tonight, Wednesday, September 13, from 5:30-7:00pm. Students are invited to attend with their families. Check out the program flyer here. The book fair will be open and more information about that is provided at the bottom of this email. We hope to see you at AMS tonight!

Starting on Monday, September 18th AMS will recognize Second Step week, as we put a spotlight on steps students can take to put an end to bullying and harassment. For more information click on this link.

On Tuesday, all fall modified athletes attended an assembly with Mr. Messia and Mr. Bubniak, our athletic director. The assembly focused on responsibilities of athletes on and off the field, being an upstander and representing our teams well through our words and actions. As part of the assembly students completed Upstander Pledge Cards that will be posted soon in the AMS Main Foyer.

Next week, Mr. Messia and Dr. Rhode will begin a series of community circles with our Grade 6 morning meeting students. During these circle discussions we work to get to know our newest students to the building and have discussions about respect, effort and responsibility at the middle school level. We look forward to these discussion circles and hope that our sixth graders enjoy them, grow from them and learn a bit about us, too.

Here at AMS we hold a number of special reward activities throughout the year. These events and activities include, but are not limited to, Movie Events, Fall Festival, Holiday Happenings, Dances, Special Field Trips, Grade Level Picnics, After School Sports Events. Proper school behavior and following the district’s Code of Conduct is essential to your opportunity to participate in these events each month. Students who have two or more office referrals, receive ESD, ISS or OSS are not allowed to participate in these special event activities. Our first activity of the year is coming up on Friday, September 29th with our APO Movie Night! We hope that all of our AMS students can participate. Thank you.

The AMS Scholastic Book Fair has returned! Students can shop in the cafeteria during their lunch period this Monday through Friday. The book fair will also be open to families on Wednesday, September 13 during the Open House.

Coin Challenge
Homerooms will be participating in a Coin Challenge to raise money for the All For Books program. All funds raised for All for Books will go toward purchasing books for the library and classrooms. Scholastic also matches every dollar raised through All for Books and donates a book to children in need through charitable organizations. Students can drop their change into their homeroom specific bucket during the fair. The homeroom who raises the most money will win a donut party! Families are free to pack those buckets during Open House, too!
