Averill Park Central School District Families,
We are writing to you today to inform you that the Averill Park Central School District will be conducting “dry” bus runs on the morning of Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2024.
The “dry” bus runs will give you an opportunity to see approximate times of when to expect your child(ren) to get on the bus. Drivers will use a 10-minute window for students to be at their stop waiting for the bus.
Students must use the assigned bus stop as designated by the school district. Requests for bus stop changes will be made for legitimate safety concerns. Students must plan to be at their bus stop at least 5 minutes early. It is the parent/guardian’s responsibility to see that their children arrive at the designated bus stop at the appropriate time. Students are expected to board the bus and sit down as quickly as possible. In order for students to arrive at school on time, it is important that they be ready for pick up.
While we will work hard to get all of our students home on time on the first day of school, there may be a slight delay with transportation. The dismissal and bus loading process takes longer than normal on the first day of school as logistical issues are worked out, such as students figuring out which bus they need to get on, the location of buses in the parking lot, etc. Please don’t worry if your child’s bus runs a few minutes late.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. We hope all of our students have a great first day of school on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2024!
