MH-SL 3rd graders have been reading the book Poppy by Avi. The main character in the book is a deer mouse named “Poppy”. The story revolves around “Poppy” encountering a great horned owl named “Mr. Ocax”. To tie in ELA with science, the class conducted a scientific study of owls. Educators from Dyken Pond visited the classrooms to teach students about owls by discussing owl facts, parts of an owl and listening to recorded owl sounds. The final portion of the study allowed all MH-SL students to dissect owl pellets. We are so thankful to our MH-SL PTA for funding the cost of the owl pellets! #AP_EveryStudentEveryDay
