PES students and families have been preparing to honor their veteran family members, friends and community members on Nov. 8, 2024! Students interviewed a veteran they know and sent in “About my Veteran” forms to be displayed throughout the Main Lobby along with a Veterans Day slideshow showcasing veteran photos that families shared. The student body created “Thank You” notes for the veterans at the parade, the VFW and the VA.
On the Nov. 8 PES morning announcements, 5th grade students shared important facts and information about veterans and Veterans Day. Then, PES students and staff gathered on the sidewalk with patriotic music, flags and signs to honor over 35 veterans in this year’s annual parade.
Thank you to the Poestenkill Firehouse for hosting our veterans this morning and for leading the parade. Thank you to the PES PTA for providing refreshments to our Veterans and organizing the parade at the firehouse. Thank you to SRO Nikles and the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office for assisting and being a part of the parade. THANK YOU to all service members near and far for your service to our country!
