This year, 25 school districts submitted a total of 526 pieces to the Annual High School Regional held at the Albany Center Galleries. This exhibition has become one of the most significant showcases for student artwork in the area. The selection process was conducted by Jurors Robert Cooper, a photographer and journalist; Thomasa Dwyer Nielsen, an artist and educator; and Tony Iadicicco, Executive Director of the Albany Center Gallery. They selected 138 works out of the 526 pieces submitted. Averill Park CSD had a great year with 14 works selected.
Additionally, two of our art students were selected for prestigious awards. Anastazia Valachovic’s mixed media sculpture titled, Words Will Set You Free, won The Lori Tansky 3-D award and Maya Love was presented with Albany Institute of History and Art Sponsored by William O. Pettit III. Part of Maya’s award included an original painting by the sponsor of the award.
Congratulations Averill Park Art Students on this well-deserved recognition!
If you were unable to attend the reception but would like to view the exhibition, the show runs from to April 18, 2025. The gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m.
