Algonquin Middle School celebrated its 22nd Annual Richtol’s Read All Day (RRAD) on Tuesday — a tradition honoring reading, literacy, and the inspiring legacy of former literacy teacher Ms. Richtol, who began this event.
In the morning, AMS faculty brought stories to life in the auditorium by volunteering their time to read to classes. A special thank you to Ms. Manna (and students) and Mr. Anderson, who wowed students with creepy sound effects and interactive storytelling!
All AMS students had the opportunity to attend presentations by award-winning author James Preller! Students not only enjoyed hearing about his writing journey, but some also got to share lunch with him and have their books personally signed. In anticipation of his visit, students created vibrant banners inspired by his books which helped to set the stage for his visit. Mr. Preller gave a bonus Q&A session and helped to answer students’ questions. His presentations blended information about the writing process and stories from his own life with moments of humor and inspiration.
Our gratitude goes to the Algonquin Parent Organization and the Student Council for generously sponsoring this wonderful author visit.
