  7. 2025 Retirements: AnnMarie Medici

After 25 years at Averill Park, AnnMarie Medici is saying goodbye to a place that she says, felt more like family than work. Although she originally set out to study occupational therapy, the impact of the amazing teachers in her life—some of whom she’s still close to 44 years later—led her to pursue a career in education.

“The students who I have seen grow and mature into terrific adults. When they come back to visit and apologize for being difficult, or tell you something you said that made a difference to them. Often I do not remember them being difficult or even saying what they said I did, but I realize what you say truly does affect your students and when you share advice they do hear you and they appreciate it.”

Over the years, AnnMarie has coached a state championship softball team, took four varsity soccer players to play internationally in Holland, and pushed a student-athlete’s wheelchair during a 5K; earning him his varsity letter.

“I am going to miss Nate, Zach and Scott and the terrific times we had. We truly have an amazing department and we worked so well together and shared many laughs. I will also miss lunch in Tracy Ferlito’s room with our “lunch bunch”

While retirement will bring golfing, pickleball, and traveling in her RV from Florida to Saratoga with her husband, children, and grandkids, the memories made at Averill Park will always hold a special place in her heart. AnnMarie, would like to say, “Thank you, Averill Park, for 25 years of love, laughter, and lasting impact.”
