  7. Early Dismissal June 23-24

Averill Park CSD Community,

The National Weather Service has issued an extreme heat watch for Monday, June 23, and Tuesday, June 24. In anticipation of the dangerously high forecasted temperatures and heat indexes the Averill Park Central School District will close early for students in K-8 on both days. Currently, the weather forecast calls for temperatures in the mid-90s and heat indexes reaching 105 degrees. The District is announcing the change in schedule now to give families time to make arrangements for childcare, if needed.

Dismissal times will be as follows:

  • Algonquin Middle School: 10:55 am
  • Elementary Schools: 12:00 pm

High School students taking the Physics exam on Tuesday afternoon who need transportation home will need to contact the main office at 518-674-7002 or email Assistant Principal Mr. Klauber at klaubere@apcsd.org.

Please note, this early dismissal is not related to the recently passed bill in the state budget regarding the New York State Governor’s maximum heat policy. As per the current guidelines, that policy will not go into effect until September 1, 2025. The decision to close early is solely based on the extreme heat conditions anticipated for the start of the week.
