The Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office has notified the District that, beginning September 1st, School Resource Officers (SROs) will begin wearing body cameras. This change is part of ongoing training and equipment upgrades aimed at enhancing public safety.
In the event of a police-related incident on campus, the SRO’s body camera may be activated. Any resulting footage will become part of the incident case file and will be stored in accordance with New York State retention standards. Please note that SROs are not authorized to share or display video footage to the public or school staff without prior approval from the Sheriff’s Office.
