Students from Averill Park High School’s Environmental Science class and the Angler Club recently toured the Bennington Fish Hatchery in Vermont.
During the visit, students learned how the facility raises brown, brook and rainbow trout from eggs until they are ready to be stocked in streams and lakes. They observed trout at different life stages, helped feed the fish and even spotted bald eagles flying overhead.
The trip offered students a hands-on learning experience connecting classroom lessons in ecology, environmental stewardship and wildlife management to real-world conservation practices.
