  7. Seligman Named APHS Assistant...

At a meeting earlier today, the Averill Park Central School District Board of Education appointed Scott Seligman as an assistant principal at Averill Park High School. Mr. Seligman, who currently serves as an assistant principal in the Schenectady City School District, will begin his new role on Dec. 1.

The Board also appointed Tom Nicholson as interim assistant principal until Mr. Seligman’s arrival. Mr. Nicholson is a retired administrator who has successfully served in several interim positions across multiple districts.

“These appointments ensure a smooth transition in our leadership team,” said APHS Principal Heath Quiles. “I am very excited about Mr. Seligman’s appointment. He comes to APHS with a track record of being student-centered and as someone who focuses on building relationships and trust with students. He will certainly be an asset to our administrative team.”

These appointments fill the vacancy created by the transfer of Assistant Principal Evan Klauber from APHS to Algonquin Middle School. That opening was created when Dr. Rhode was appointed Director of Personnel Development following the resignation of the previous director.
