On Wednesday, Oct. 29, APHS Music students were treated to a visit from New York City-based jazz musician Bria Skonberg. A celebrated trumpet player and vocalist, Skonberg has released multiple albums, toured internationally, and earned acclaim as “one of the most versatile and imposing musicians of her generation” (Wall Street Journal).
During her visit, she worked with the Treble Choir, Concert Band, and Jazz Ensemble in both large and small group settings, performing solos, improvisations, and sharing rehearsal and practice techniques. Students also had the opportunity to ask questions and learn directly from her experience in the professional music world.
This appearance of Bach Trumpet Artist Bria Skonberg was made possible in part through an educational grant from Bach Trumpets. Skonberg performs exclusively on Bach Trumpets. Additional funding was provided by John Keal Music Co., which covered two-thirds of the visit cost. The APHS Music program also thanks the Administration for their support.
