APHS opened its “Winter Traditions Around the World” series with a look at Las Posadas, a traditional Mexican celebration that reenacts Mary and Joseph’s search for shelter before the birth of Jesus. During lunch, students learned about the history and customs of the holiday, took part in a themed game and enjoyed popcorn as they explored the tradition.
The series is designed to broaden students’ cultural awareness by highlighting how communities around the world celebrate during the winter season. By engaging with global traditions, students gain a deeper understanding of diverse perspectives and the significance of shared celebrations.
More winter traditions from around the world will be featured in the coming weeks.
