  7. 2025 Retirements: Denis Sibson

Congratulations to Miller Hill–Sand Lake Elementary School Principal Denis Sibson, who is retiring after nearly 30 years of dedicated service to the district. Sibson joined APCSD in 1996 and spent nine years at Algonquin Middle School as a teacher and assistant principal before leading MHSL for more than 20 years.

Throughout his career, Sibson said he cherished the “lightbulb moments” when student learning clicked and the many celebrations shared within the school community. He noted the annual Senior Walk-Through as a particularly meaningful tradition.

“To see the growth and maturity of former MHSL students ready to embark on the next chapter of their lives- it truly is special!”

Sibson said he will miss the camaraderie and connection with the staff most, describing the MHSL team as a family whose support and joy have defined his time as principal.

“We’re a family, and we’ve shared so much joy over the past 20+ years. I will miss seeing their smiling faces each day.”

He looks forward to enjoying midweek skiing in retirement, along with biking, fishing, golfing and gardening in the warmer months; skiing and snowshoeing in the winter; and traveling when possible.

We thank Principal Sibson for his leadership, commitment and countless contributions to our students, staff and families. We wish him the very best in his well-earned retirement.
