Five Averill Park students earned recognition in the 2025-26 Scholastic Art and Writing Competition, one of the nation’s most prestigious programs honoring creative excellence since 1923.
Lana Valachovic received a Gold Key for her piece “Framed in Sorrow” and will advance to national adjudication. Shea Eller earned a Silver Key for “Home Stretch.” Sydney Farron, Rebecca Gallerani and Anastazia Valachovic each received Honorable Mentions for their submissions.
More than 4,555 works were entered in the Central New York region, with awards representing a small percentage of submissions. The recognition highlights the creativity, skill and artistic voice of Averill Park’s student artists.
