  7. CTE Science Students Take...

CTE Science students in Mr. Kozlowski’s construction classes recently visited Howe Caverns to connect their classroom learning to real-world applications. As part of their study of concrete and the role of limestone in Portland cement, students traveled 156 feet below ground to explore a natural limestone cave.

During the visit, students observed geological formations and physical properties firsthand while also examining the cave’s consistent 52-degree temperature as part of a discussion on geothermal heating and cooling. The trip also included an exploration of underground aquifers, including the one that supplies Lake Venus, where students experienced a boat ride through the cavern.
