WSL first- and second-grade students recently welcomed author E.C. Myers for a grade-level visit, courtesy of Northshire Bookstore in Saratoga. Students explored his book Kaiju Gaga, part of the Choose Your Own Adventure Jr. series, and helped decide the story’s path as it was read aloud.
Before the visit, students created drawings inspired by the book, which were displayed throughout the hallways to guide Mr. Myers into the building. During his visit, he answered questions about writing and shared how the term “kaiju” refers to giant monsters in Japanese films, and how the name “Gaga” connects to a baby kaiju in the story. Students enjoyed the opportunity to learn, ask questions and engage with the author.
