The World Languages Department, with help from other teachers, held its 17th annual Lip Sync contest on Tuesday, March 24, raising over $800 for World Languages Department senior scholarships. World Languages teachers from Algonquin Middle School judged the performances and more than 70 students from French and Spanish 4 and 5 classes performed to a packed house.
Spanish 5 took home the Honorable Mention award for their rendition of “La Duena del Swing” by Los Hermanos Rosario and “Celular” by Nicky Jam, Malkuma, and the Chain Smokers. Spanish 4, block 5, were the winners of Best Costumes award for “La Bamba by Los Lobos. French 4 earned the Best Choreography award for their work on the song “Copines” by Aya Nakamura. French 5 took the Best Lip Syncing prize for the song “En feu” by Soprano. The Best Overall Performance honors went to Spanish 4, block 1, for their version of “Candela” by Alvaro Soler and Nico Santos. APHS teachers performed a routine to the Swedish version of “Waterloo” by ABBA.
