There are two (2) open seats for the Board of Education. In order to appear on the ballot, anyone interested in running for the Board must turn in a petition with the required number of signatures before the deadline determined by New York State. The deadline for submitting petitions was Monday, April 20, 2026. No petitions were submitted, which means no names will appear on the ballot.
Since no petitions were filed, the only option available for someone to be elected to the board would be write-in votes on the date of the election – May 19, 2026. If write-in votes are received for more than one person, the two highest would be elected to the board. If write-in votes are only received for one person, that person would be elected to the board. If no write-in votes are received, the board could proceed with appointing people to fill the two vacancies.
Board members are elected to serve a three-year term.
