WSL and PES Girls on the Run teams recently completed a practice 5K at APHS. Students were joined by families, staff and community members, who ran alongside them as they prepare for their end-of-season celebration run.
Along the track, each student had a personalized sign made for them, featuring messages of encouragement added by the broader school community ahead of the event. Members of the varsity softball team volunteered to help track laps and celebrate runners at the finish line.
Girls on the Run is a national program for students in grades 3–8 that combines running with lessons focused on confidence, teamwork and healthy decision-making. The season culminates in a non-competitive 5K celebration, which will take place Sunday, May 17 in Albany.
