  7. School Budget Vote and...

On Tuesday, May 19, residents of the Averill Park Central School District will vote on a proposed $73,273,010 budget for the 2026-27 school year that, despite rising healthcare costs of over $1.1 million, maintains a rigorous academic curriculum, expands co-teaching & CTE to middle school, introduces Girls Varsity Golf, and provides new GPS/attendance software critical for bus safety. The budget includes a 3.99% tax levy, which is significantly lower than the state’s 4.66% statutory Property Tax Cap limit and, due to previous savings, a Capital Project Referendum with zero cost to taxpayers.

Voters will also elect two (2) candidates to the Board of Education and decide whether to approve the District’s school bus purchase proposition. Community members are encouraged to visit the District’s 2026-27 Budget Information page to view full budget documents & presentations.

What will I be voting on?

*Voting will take place 5/19/26 in the High School Auxiliary Gymnasium from 7am to 9pm*

Please be aware that Tuesday, May 19 is a regular school day at the high school. There will be additional car and bus traffic during normal arrival and dismissal times. The District invites the community to take part in the Horticulture Program’s annual plant sale and the Music Department’s annual BBQ.

Who can vote?

  • A resident of the Averill Park Central School District for at least 30 days prior to the vote
  • At least 18 years old
  • A U.S. citizen

*Please Note: You do not need to be pre-registered to vote on May 20. If you are not registered, you may not appear on the voter roll. Be sure to bring photo identification that shows an address within the District, or proof of residency such as a current utility bill.
