The APHS Counseling Center is sharing information about U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand’s upcoming Capital Region Service Academy Information Night, scheduled for Monday, May 18, from 6-8 p.m. at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s Center for Biotechnology and Interdisciplinary Studies (CBIS). Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
The event is designed for high school students, families and school counselors interested in learning more about the nation’s five service academies, ROTC opportunities and cybersecurity-related academic programs from representatives of each service, in addition to several institutions and offices that are expected to attend, including SUNY Albany’s College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security and Cybersecurity.
Students may apply for a 2026 Service Academy Nomination through Senator Gillibrand’s website *The deadline to apply and submit all materials in consideration for a nomination is Sunday, October 12, 2026, at 11:59 PM ET.
