  7. MHSL Hosts Fine Arts...

Miller Hill-Sand Lake Elementary School recently welcomed students, families and community members for its annual Fine Arts Night, transforming the school into a colorful celebration of student creativity, music and visual arts.

Hallways throughout the building were filled with student artwork inspired by well-known artists and artistic styles. Displays included kindergarten line art projects inspired by Piet Mondrian, first grade still life paintings inspired by Paul Cezanne and second grade mixed-media guitar collages inspired by Pablo Picasso. Families explored the exhibits while students proudly shared and discussed their work.

The evening also featured performances by fifth grade band, orchestra and chorus students under the direction of Ms. Elizabeth Baker and Mr. Isaiah VanBuren. Students performed selections including “Aura Lee,” “Zombie Stomp,” “Boatmen Stomp” and “As Long As I Have Music.”

Attendees, performers and student artists added to the festive atmosphere with creative and colorful outfits throughout the evening, making Fine Arts Night both a showcase of student talent and a celebration of the arts community at MHSL.
