Library Mission Statement

The mission of the Averill Park CSD Library Media Program is to provide opportunities for students and staff to become effective users of ideas and information for life-long learners. To provide learning experiences that encourage users to become discriminating consumers and skilled creators of information through introduction to the full range of communications media and use of new and emerging information technologies. To promote literacy and the enjoyment of reading, viewing and listening. To provide resources and activities that contribute to life-long learning that are multicultural, gender fair, and disability aware. To provide leadership, instruction, and consulting assistance in the use of instructional and information technology. To provide a facility that functions as the information center of the school. To provide intellectual and physical access to information and ideas for a diverse population whose needs are changing rapidly.
