Unified Sports for Students
Your child has expressed an interest in participating in the Unified Sports Basketball program this spring. The season will begin April 1st, when they’ll practice twice per week. There are 6 regular season games scheduled to be played in the month of May on Mondays and Thursdays There will also be an end of season tournament the last week in May at the Glens Falls Civic Center.
Unified Sports is an inclusive sports program that combines students with and without disabilities on teams for sports training and competitions. Averill Park HS will proudly offer students the opportunity to participate on a “unified team” in the sport of basketball this coming spring. Averill Park is 1 of 12 schools in Section 2, and the entire state, to offer a Unified Sports program.
In order for your child to be eligible to participate, they’ll need a current sports physical to be on file. One option is to bring your child to your private physician . Another option is to have the school nurse schedule a sports physical at school with our nurse practitioner. Please contact Ms Flanigan at to let us know your intentions for getting a physical and/or if you have any health related questions .
Feel free to contact me directly at if you have any questions about the Unified Sports program.
