WARRIOR WELLNESS DAY – MARCH 17
Coming up on Friday, March 17, AMS students will participate in the school’s Third Annual Warrior Wellness Day. In the morning students will participate in three sessions. One session will be a keynote presentation by Harlem Globetroter and Siena basketball standout, Tay Fisher. Tay will be presenting on bullying, harassment and the power of being an upstander.
Students will then attend sessions of their choice from up to 30 different options. Those options will include: yoga, craft making, soup making, functional fitness, learning about service animals, karaoke, mental health topics, drug and alcohol prevention, nature activities, painting, coloring, origami and even a quiet study hall option to get some extra school work completed. A huge thank you goes out to our AMS Counseling Center staff for organizing what will be a great day for our students.

GRADE 7 UPSTANDER DISCUSSION CIRCLES
Over the past two weeks Grade 7 Morning Meeting groups have been conducting circles with Mr. Messia and Ms. Baker focused on the topic of being an upstander when confronted with words or actions that are hurtful or hateful. These discussions put a spotlight on the importance of taking action in the face of injustice and harm.
We encourage all families to check in with their child, regardless of their grade level, to reinforce the importance of being an upstander and doing the right thing both online and in-person when they see hate, harassment and bullying.

FROM THE LIBRARY
CHROMEBOOK REMINDER: Please help your child be ready for school by reminding them to charge their Chromebook each night and to be sure to pack it in their backpack for the next school day. If the battery life falls below 20%, the laptop can go into a deep sleep and die. It then has to be sent to our Technology Department to be revived. If students are charging their Chromebooks every day, this should ensure that their school day and learning is not interrupted.
Coding Club
Coding Club will meet next week on Tuesday, March 21 from second dismissal until 3:20. Your child can sign up in the library or can email Mrs. Ekstrom to let her know they’re coming. Your child needs to have a ride or take the late bus home at 3:20. Email Mrs. Ekstrom with any questions: ekstromr@apcsd.org
