Last week, the District informed the community about Governor Kathy Hochul’s State Foundation Aid proposal for school districts in her Executive Budget Presentation. As it stands, the proposal allocates the Averill Park Central School District $159,293 LESS than it received last year.
Since then, we have been advocating for more funding for our school community. In the past week, members of the Board of Education joined Assemblyman Bendett at a Press Conference. Senator Jake Ashby’s office put out a press release that directly mentioned Averill Park CSD and quoted Superintendent Dr. James Franchini. Additionally, members of the BOE are planning to attend the upcoming Lobby Day sponsored by the New York State School Boards Association.
