We are pleased to announce that the Addictions Care Center of Albany, in partnership with the NoPiates Committee and Averill Park Education Foundation, are sponsoring Stephen Hill to speak at Averill Park High School on Wednesday, May 15, 2024. Stephen will be presenting to the Junior and Senior Classes and will be tabling at lunches, giving students the opportunity to talk with him individually. He will also be conducting a Break Out Session for several student leadership groups in the afternoon. Our Students Against Destructive Decisions Club was a driving force in advocating for Stephen to come to APHS after hearing him speak at the Capital Region Youth Summit in 2023.
Stephen is a renowned national speaker on substance use prevention and mental health with a truly inspiring comeback story that everyone must hear. He is the founder of Speak Sobriety, a young person in recovery, bestselling author, recovery coach, and a defense attorney. He has presented in front of thousands of people for over 750 schools and coalitions across the country, sharing his cautionary tale of addiction to recovery and beyond.
Stephen helps young people lead healthy, substance-free lives by example. His powerful message will leave our students better educated on mental health and substance use, with practical tools and coping skills to work through challenges, and with a goal-oriented mindset to build a life worth protecting.
